Need To Hide Memories of an Old Flame? Storage Company Offers Free 'Ex-Box'

By David Matthews | February 10, 2015 5:36am

GOLD COAST — Need to dispose of mementos from your past failed relationship, but don't want to lose them forever?

Never fear. Introducing: the "Ex-Box."

Till the end of February, storage company SpaceWays is offering free delivery, pickup and three months of storage for customers who order a SpaceWays box.

The Ex-Box promotion is "for anyone in a happy relationship, but who is not yet ready to let go of an old one," according to a news release from SpaceWays, a German storage company that expanded to Chicago last year.

"We can help get reminders of past loves out of the house, though not out of mind," SpaceWays co-founder and managing director Rob Rebholz said. Those who order an Ex-Box will also receive a box of chocolates for new flames from SpaceWays.

Dave Matthews explains how the promotion works:

Otherwise meant for more than anniversary gifts and love letters, SpaceWays boxes can fit up to 80 T-shirts or 377 compact discs, Rebholz said. The boxes are stored at a facility just outside Chicago for $5.90 per box per month, and redelivery of boxes costs $19.

Those who take advantage of the promotion can continue paying the normal storage rate after three months, or schedule a free delivery back. Enter promo code EXBOXS860 through Feb. 28 at www.spaceways.com to reserve an Ex-Box.
