UPTOWN — Portions of Uptown streets will be closed for several hours every night this week and next week as construction crews work on the Red Line tracks.

Starting Monday evening, Broadway will be closed between Leland and Wilson avenues, and Leland will be closed between Broadway and Winthrop Street, according to a CTA spokesman.

The streets will be closed nightly from 9 p.m.-4 a.m. all of this week and next week, excluding weekends.

The Wilson Red Line is getting a $203 million facelift, which makes it one of the largest CTA construction projects in history. Originally built in 1923, the station will get modern updates and become a new transfer point between Red and Purple lines.
