CHICAGO — A suspect in a string of fast-food restaurant robberies was arrested Friday while robbing a restaurant that was under police surveillance, police said Sunday.
Police were investigating seven similar robberies, and had officers surveilling a fast-food restaurant in the 6400 block of West 63rd Street Friday night.
At about 11:35 p.m., they saw a man enter the restaurant and announce a robbery, police said. Police determined he had a knife and a .40-caliber handgun; officers entered the restaurant and arrested Samuel Ferrara, 23, of the 6600 block West 59th Street, police said.
Ferrara was charged with 13 felony counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery, two felony counts of theft, two felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one misdemeanor count of failure to register a firearm.
Ferrar is due in court Monday.
