Ashburn Man Extradited from Wisconsin, Charged in January Murder

CHICAGO — Police tracked down a suspect in a January homicide in Madison, Wis., and charged him with murder.

Omar Dixon, of the 3500 block of West 83rd Place, was extradited from Wisconsin in connection with the fatal shooting of Terrence Harris on Jan. 14, police said.

Around 5:20 p.m. that day, Dixon robbed and shot Harris in the chest as he was walking in the 8100 block of South Artesian Avenue, police said.

Harris, 24, of the 9200 block of South Elizabeth Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Dixon is facing felony charges for murder and armed robbery. He is expected to appear in bond court Friday, police said.
