HYDE PARK — Architects think they have some solutions for seeing more stars in the city at a Thursday panel discussion.

University of Chicago Architect Steve Wiesenthal will lead a discussion at 7 p.m. about design and planning solutions for light pollution in Chicago.

Wiesenthal will start with the university’s own efforts to try new designs on the Midway Plaisance before turning to a panel for other options at the event at the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St.

The panel includes Niall Atkinson, professor of art history, the University of Chicago;
James Carpenter, an architect at James Carpenter Design Associates; Sidney Nagel, a professor of physics at the University of Chicago; Leslie Osborne, a professor of neurobiology at the University of Chicago; Tom Rossiter, a photographer; and Robert Shook, a lighting designer at Schuler Shook.

The event is free and open to the public.
