COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Logan Square teen accidentally shot himself in the finger while eating pizza he'd stolen at gunpoint, prosecutors said Thursday.

Armando Colon, 19, was treated and released from Mount Sinai Hospital — only to steal Chinese food at gunpoint four days later, Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Karr said during a bond hearing.

Prosecutors said Colon partnered with 16-year-old Deon Reece to rob two Logan Square delivery drivers earlier this month.

The first attack happened about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 after the duo ordered pizza from Domino's, Karr said.

When the driver arrived in the 3500 block of West Dickens Avenue, Colon walked out to meet him. Prosecutors said Reece, who'd been hiding with a gun, came around and placed the muzzle on the driver's head.

The pair went through the 34-year-old man's pockets and stole $40 to $50 before running off to a nearby abandoned building, Karr said.

As the teens sat eating pizza and divvying the cash, Colon started to hand the gun to Reece and accidentally shot himself in the finger, prosecutors said. He ran outside, where someone called 911. He was treated and released from Mount Sinai Hospital.

Four days later, on Jan. 18, Colon and Reece placed a delivery order with Alice Garden Chinese Restaurant, according to prosecutors.

When the driver pulled up to the 3500 block of West Shakespeare Avenue about 9 p.m., Reece opened the man's car door and pointed a gun at his head, Karr said. Reece then allegedly hit the man's face with the gun.

Colon, meanwhile, opened the passenger's side door and took the food, prosecutors said. He and Reece went through the 52-year-old driver's pockets and stole roughly $400.

The teens then headed to an abandoned house to eat Chinese food together, Karr said.

Police arrested the pair Tuesday after they were positively identified by the drivers.

Colon, of the 3500 block of West Dickens Avenue, and Reece, of the 1800 block of North Kimball Avenue, each face two felony counts of aggravated armed robbery.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas ordered each teen held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
