CHICAGO — Police are searching for the man who sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman near a Wicker Park alley early Monday.

Around 1:54 a.m., the woman was walking in the 1700 block of West Pierce Avenue when a man tackled her to the ground, ripped her pants open and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The man ran away after a good Samaritan heard the woman's screams and yelled at the man, police said.

The woman was taken to St. Mary Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

The assailant was described as a black man aged 25-40 wearing a dark coat and dark pants. The man stands between 5-foot-8 and 6 foot and weighs between 180-220 pounds. He might be armed with a handgun, police said.
