UPTOWN — On New Year’s Eve, 20th District police officers were handed an easy felony drug arrest when a man allegedly handed them a bag of MDMA (Molly) pills he had pulled from his underwear.

Nicholas Bianchi, 20, of Rosemont, was charged with felony possession of narcotics for the 34 pills as well as three misdemeanors for using an identification card not issued to him, theft and simple battery.

Officers encountered Bianchi after a fight broke out in the entry line to the Space Oddity Costume Party at the Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence Ave.

Bianchi had gotten into a fist fight with a security agent when patrol officers were flagged down by people in the crowd, police said. Security told officers the man had attempted to gain entry using another man’s driver’s license.

When a security agent confiscated the license, Bainchi ran him down and attempted to snatch the license from him. When the guard blocked the attempt, Bianchi swung at him and the fight began, police said.

When officers asked Bianchi why someone of a legal age would use a stolen identification card, Bianchi said that he had lost his own identification but had also promised to meet a girl that night for the Aragon party.

Bianchi was taken into custody and at the station house, without prompting, he reached into his underwear and pulled out a double-wrapped bag of pills, police said.

Bianchi turned it over to a booking officer as the arresting officers looked on, according to the report.
