LINCOLN SQUARE — If you resolved to volunteer more in the New Year or to get more involved with your community, Amundsen High School is making it easy for you to meet your goal.

The school, in conjunction with Friends of Amundsen and Aldermen Pat O'Connor (40th) and Ameya Pawar (47th), is hosting a Spruce Up Day from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the school 5110 N. Damen Ave.

Sign up online for your task of choice: Opt to paint, design bulletin boards, hang banners, clean or serve as a jack-of-all-trades, pitching in on miscellaneous maintenance and repair projects.

O'Connor and Pawar, whose wards both contain elementary schools that feed into Amundsen, have each contributed $1,000 toward supplies for the day.
