LINCOLN PARK — Tiny tots strapped on their running shoes and reindeer antlers for the Donner Dash in Lincoln Park Sunday morning.

After more than 1,000 adults finished the 8K Rudolph Ramble, the kids got a chance to run the Donner Dash.

"It was good," said Chandler Ding, 5, of suburban South Barrington. After Sunday's 100-yard dash, Chandler brought his total running racing distance to "13¾ of a mile."

"This year, it was a lot warmer and there were a lot more kids," said his mother, Erin Ding, 33. "Last year, we were running through a blizzard. You could barely see in front of you."

Fleet Feet Chicago partnered with Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital to host Sunday's race.

Madison Marshiano, 3, and friend Tyler Prugh, 3 set out on their first race with parents supporting them on the sidelines.

"I was hospitalized a lot as child and our family was a big supporter of Lurie Children's Hospital," said Kristie Marshiano, 43. "This is for a good cause."

Afterward, the kids got a chance to take a photo with Santa and a giant Reindeer.

Chris Irk, 35, of Glenview, signed his two-year-old daughter Analyce for the Donner Dash for a good reason: "Mostly so she could meet Santa."
