CHICAGO — A 46-year-old man fatally shot his fiancee's brother during an argument Monday, authorities said.
Police responded to a domestic shooting shortly after 11 a.m. Monday in the 6100 block of South Wabash Avenue.
They found a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the head and the chest, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman. They determined the victim was arguing with his sister's fiance, when the 46-year-old man pulled out a gun and fired.
The victim, Guvonni Johnson, of the same block, was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 a.m. Tuesday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Police arrested Eric Hamilton, who was charged with first-degree murder. He was due to appear in court Friday, but was hospitalized after experiencing "heart attack symptoms," the Sun-Times reported. He was ordered held without bond until a new hearing could be scheduled.
