CHICAGO — Thieves crashed a minivan through the glass doors of a Marquette Park pawn shop Tuesday morning, the latest "crash and grab" in Chicago.

The Dodge Caravan ended up deep inside the EZ Pawn at 6740 S. Western Ave. and stayed there long after the burglars were gone.

It happened around 3:55 a.m. The thieves made off with electronics and other items before running away from the store, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The number of thieves is unknown, police said.

Similar burglaries have been happening all over the area. Paul Stuart, an upscale men's clothing store in the Loop, was hit in a similar incident last week. Last month, thieves crashed into a clothing store in Austin on Thanksgiving Day, making off with the high-end merchandise and leaving the cheap items behind.

Police say though the strategy is the same, they believe the incidents are not being done by the same crew.
