BRIDGEPORT — It's "Silver Bells" meets craft beers at Maria's Community Bar, where the congregation of First Lutheran Church of the Trinity will gather for a session of "Beer and Carols."

The event takes place 8-11 p.m. Thursday at the bar, 960 W. 31st St.

Along with their best singing voices and worst holiday sweaters, patrons are encouraged to bring a donation of cash or socks, which will benefit the church's "God's Closet" program, where needy families can shop for free.

Thursday's event is suitable for ages 21 and up. There is no cover charge.
