LOGAN SQAURE — A construction worker was injured this weekend after the front of a home collapsed in Logan Square.

The facade of a building at 2500 N. Sacramento Ave. fell during construction Saturday, Dec. 6, injuring a laborer's foot at about 9:10 a.m., according to police.

A new 1½-story home and garage is planned for the site from general contractor Rigo Construction Incorporated, according to a conditional city building permit issued in August. The building cost is estimated at $150,000.

An image of the home from July shows the facade in bad shape months before it caved in. The same building passed a plumbing inspection in November.

The city building inspector was notified to check any structural damage Saturday, according to Police News Affairs Office Jose Estrada. The injured worker was taken to Illinois Masonic hospital.
