Hyde Park Celebrates Kwanzaa with Two-Day Bazaar

HYDE PARK — Curious about Kwanzaa? The Hyde Park Neighborhood Club will host a weekend of celebrations for the holiday.

The weekend-long event will start at 11 a.m. Saturday and offer music, arts and crafts, food and talks about the holiday at the neighborhood club, 5480 S. Kenwood Ave.

Kola Abimola, a babalawo or priest of Ifá and an expert in West African religious traditions, will open the holiday bazaar at noon Saturday.

The weekend will host performances by Akasha, Bantu Man, Ebony Byrd, David Boykin, Example Setters, Najwa Dance Corps, Tumelo Khosa, Koku Gonza and others.
