IRVING PARK — Start warming up your pipes for Sunday's performance of Handel's "Messiah," presented by the Irving Park Fine Arts Committee.

Professional singers will take the lead during the concert, to be held at Irving Park Lutheran Church, but the audience will join in on the "Hallelujah Chorus" — the text of which, FYI, includes more than "hallelujah" on repeat.

Handel composed his "Messiah" in 1741. Originally sung at Easter, the work has since become associated with Christmas.

The Fine Arts Committee hasn't hosted a "Messiah" production since 2009. This year's event is free and sponsored by the Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association.

The concert starts at 3 p.m., 4100 N. Harding Ave., with a reception to follow.
