LOGAN SQUARE — Look for the red light on Mondays for Logan Square's newest dance party.

East Room, 2828 W. Medill Ave., recently launched the Chicago chapter of "Motown on Mondays," the national soul dance party that spans more than 15 cities across the country.

Motown Mondays is a "family of DJ’s, producers, musicians and music enthusiasts who share a passion for the convergence of soul music and dancing," according to an announcement for the weekly event addition at East Room.

The series began Nov. 11 after a move from to East Room and has become a regular feature, every Monday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

What began as a humble Monday night Motown and soul party in San Francisco in 2009 has since grown into a multi-city Monday night dance party across the states. T

he Chicago edition of Motown Mondays is presented by Ground Lift Media and features some of the cities hottest DJs, including Intel, Maker, Trew, Johnny Walker and Scend.

There's no cover and drink specials include $4 Tigers 16-ounce cans, and a $5 Tiger 16-ounce can plus a Shot of Paddy Irish Whiskey.

The Logan Square bar, already known for its prohibition-era vibe and unique elevator seating arrangement, sits across from Slippery Slope, a fierce competitor for the neighborhood's top booze-soaked dance party.

Both bars recently added food trucks to their street menu, making sure patrons have something to eat after the dance floor.
