EDGEBROOK — The renovation of the playground at DeJulio Park is almost complete, and Edison Park officials are looking for volunteers to help put the finishing touches on the new playlot.
DeJulio Park, 6056 N. Landers Ave., won all new equipment through the Park District's Chicago Plays! Playground Renovation program.
Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday to help spread the wood-based soft Fibar chips on the new playground at the half-acre park nestled just off the Edens Expressway. The playground was last renovated in 1991.
In 1975, the park was named in honor of Anthony J. DeJulio, a former park district employee who served as director of recreation for many years, according to the Chicago Park District's website.
Volunteers should bring a pair of work gloves and wear sneakers or boots, Friends of the Parks advised.
Chicago Plays!, which is a program administered by Friends of the Parks, plans to renovate 325 playgrounds throughout the city over the next five years.
