
CHICAGO — Two men were shot, one fatally, on the Far South Side early Saturday, authorities said.
Around 2:50 a.m., two men, both 23, were standing on the sidewalk in the 8000 block of South Fairfield Avenue when someone opened fire from a gangway, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
One of the men suffered from a gunshot wound in his abdomen and a graze wound in his right arm. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition had stabilized, Pacheco said.
The second victim was initially taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital with gunshot wounds in his head and his right leg, Pacheco said.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:15 a.m., authorities said.
The victim was later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Ladarius Edwards, of the 2500 block of West 79th Street.
No further information was immediately available.
No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
