BRIDGEPORT — Flames tore through a local laundromat over the weekend, leaving the decades-old building in shambles.

"We will be rebuilding," said Nathan Lichtenfeld, 31, owner of Coin Laundry, 1101 W. 31st St.

Lichtenfeld, a professional landscaper and suburban firefighter, said he bought the business about a month ago. It's been in business in Bridgeport since the 1960s.

The fire broke out about 4:15 p.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Lichtenfeld said customers who had clothes in the laundry machines at the time of the fire can call a phone number that'll be posted on the laundromat's front windows on Monday.

"There's a high likelihood that clothes will get recovered," he said.

He said anyone in need of immediate assistance with clothes should contact the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago. The agency's "Get Help" number is listed as 312-729-6100.
