LINCOLN SQUARE — That slice of butterscotch pie you inhaled at Baker Miller Bakery & Millhouse is just one of the reasons Megan Miller has been nominated for a Jean Banchet Award as Rising Pastry Chef of the Year.

The Banchet Award is the highest culinary honor handed out in Chicago. Miller, who first made a name for herself at Bang Bang Pie Shop, is the lone Lincoln Square chef among the nominees.

Her competitors in the Rising Pastry Chef category are Sarah Koechling (Balena, The Bristol), Genie Kwon (Boka) and Jonathan Ory (Bad Wolf Coffee).

Miller and her husband Dave opened their new Bakery & MIllhouse, 4610 N. Western Ave., in September.

Banchet winners will be announced Jan. 30, 2015, at the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Grand Chefs Gala.
