CHICAGO — The city's biggest horror movie fans live in McKinley Park, as far as Redbox is concerned.

The company behind the dozens of red video kiosks looked at what movies Chicagoans have checked out this year. The company found that people south of Madison Street tend to choose to watch scary movies like "The Purge" and "Oculus" far more often than people on the North Side.

Northsider Tanveer Ali discusses his scary movie preferences:

The company didn't release information about how many movies people check out in each neighborhood, but did say that the most rented horror film of the year was “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" with last year's remake of "Carrie" coming in second.

The neighborhoods where scary movies are least popular are Streeterville, River North and Lincoln Park.

Logan Square and South Loop movie renters are twice as likely to check out horror movies than people in Streeterville, River North and Lincoln Park, according to Redbox data.

But residents in McKinley Park, Bridgeport and Bronzeville love renting scary movies more than anyone else in town.
