LINCOLN SQUARE — Is Lincoln Square one of the greatest places in America?

Well, duh, there's a Mariano's here.

But seriously, the neighborhood has been chosen by the American Planning Association as one of 10 finalists vying for the "People's Choice" award in the APA's annual Great Places program.

Patty Wetli discusses why other locations got the nod ahead of Lincoln Square:

Votes are being tallied online through Wednesday (click here), and the winner will be announced Oct. 31.

C'mon, Lincoln Square, you've got this — if anyone knows how to stuff a ballot box, it's Chicagoans.

Are you gonna let Ann Arbor's Kerrytown District beat you? Lincoln Square sees their Zingerman's Deli and raises them a Merz Apothecary.

Honolulu Avenue in Montrose, Calif., hangs its hat on its weekly farmers market. Um, Lincoln Square has two — Tuesday mornings and Thursday nights, plus concerts. If you rock the vote, Lincoln Square, you can send Honolulu back to Hawaii where it belongs.

If Lincoln Square emerges victorious, it'll join current Great Places honorees, which include Savannah's Victorian District, Pennsylvania Avenue and a little thing called Mt. Rainer.

OK, you've got six days to vote, Lincoln Square, and send the San Antonio River Walk up a creek.
