CHICAGO — Drivers this weekend might want to consider a route that doesn't involve the Kennedy Expy. or the Stevenson Expy.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said Friday that crews will be conducting routine inspections of the bridges over the Kennedy near Addison Street and of the Pulaski Road Bridge over the Stevenson.

From 6-9:30 a.m. Saturday, two-lane moving closures will be used in the inbound local lanes of the Kennedy. At the same time Sunday, two-lane moving closures will be used on outbound local lanes. Two lanes will be open at all times, IDOT said.

From 7- 9 a.m. Saturday, the right lane of Northbound traffic on the Stevenson will be closed. From 9- 11 a.m., the right lane of Southbound traffic on the Stevenson will be closed. The two left lanes of traffic will be open during the process, IDOT said.

IDOT urges travelers pay attention to flaggers and signs in the work zone. Travelers should expect delays and allow extra time if traveling through this area.

Updates on traffic impacts will be available here.
