MOUNT GREENWOOD — Ghosts and ghouls in Beverly and Mount Greenwood have full schedules as Oct. 31 approaches.

Halloween-themed events abound throughout the 19th Ward for children of all ages. So if you are looking to get the most possible use out of your costume, check out the events below:

The 19th Ward Pumpkin Patch is the most likely candidate for sightings of Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin. The second annual event returns from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, 3857 W. 111th St. in Mount Greenwood.

The pumpkin patch is free to attend as are most activities, including the corn maze and horse exhibition. A few attractions such as the inflatable bounce houses and face painting cost $1.

About 2,000 people visited the pumpkin patch last year and more are expected this year as the forecast predicts mild, autumn weather.

Ald. Matt O’Shea’s Senior Citizen Halloween Party rarely draws many costumed creatures. Yet the seasonal celebration features a festive crowd. The party will be held from noon-3 p.m. Tuesday at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115th St. in Merrionette Park.

The alderman's office invites all seniors living with the 19th Ward to the party, which includes a fried chicken lunch, a performance by Mother McAuley High School's A Cappella Choir and the ever-popular bingo games.

Reservations are preferred. It costs $5 to attend the party.

The Legend of Horse Thief Hollow is sure to give Ichabod Crane nightmares. The Beverly brewpub details its sordid history along with a few other ghost stories from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday at 10426 S. Western Ave.

A bus leaving from a to-be-determined destination on the North Side is being coordinated by History On Tap. It costs $30 to ride the haunted bus. Those providing their own transportation can participate in the storytelling and craft beer drinking for $20.

The Not-So-Haunted House promises not to frighten anyone from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, 3737 W. 99th St. in Mount Greenwood.

The school hallways, classrooms and theater play host to slightly spooky stories, games, activities, puppet shows and skits. All attractions are geared toward children from preschool through third grade. Admission is $2 per person.

The Mount Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Trick or Treat Walk has become a mainstay for costumed children ages 10 and younger. The 19th annual walk welcomes treat-hungry children accompanied by a parent or guardian to the 111th Street business district from 2-5 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Participating business will display an orange flier in the window. This event is often the first stop for children looking to trick-or-treat immediately after school.

The 95th Street Beverly Hills Business Association Trick or Treat Walk is a lesser known event to its Mount Greenwood counterpart. Costumed candy-seekers accompanied by an adult are encouraged visit the businesses along 95th Street in Beverly from 3-5 p.m. on Oct. 31.

The owners of storefronts between Western and Ashland avenues participating in the walk will display an orange poster in their window or entryway.
