COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A woman was charged with aggravated assault of a 73-year-old Safe Passage worker near South Shore High School Wednesday after she pulled out a box cutter and insulted the woman, prosecutors said.

Ericka Blair, 35, of the 2700 block of South Indiana Avenue, faces one count of aggravated assault of a peace officer for the incident. Her bail was set at $75,000 at a hearing Thursday.

Blair was walking in the 7500 block of South Constance Avenue when she encountered the Safe Passage worker Wednesday morning, prosecutors said. Blair made an insult about the woman's age and then pulled out the cutter, prosecutors said.

She was later found by police in possession of a box cutter and identified by the victim, prosecutors said.
