ROGERS PARK — The new park  at Albion Avenue and the lake opened this summer and a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Monday.

The expansion of Hartigan Park was once a parking lot but now includes grass, trees, benches under two pergolas and a meandering dirt path.

Lighting and a drinking fountain were also installed.

The $275,000 park was funded with money from the Open Space Impact Fee, which is set aside for the development of open space in the city. The once-vacant lot has been owned by the city since 2007.

Ald. Joe Moore (49th) plans to host the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday at the park.
