LOGAN SQUARE — A man accused of sexually abusing a woman on the CTA's Red Line earlier this month was charged in two other similar cases after two women recognized him from news reports and went to police, prosecutors said.

Noor Jalil, 53, was ordered held on $100,000 bail Wednesday after he was accused of abusing three women, including one who is seven months pregnant, after prosecutors say his victims recognized him from security footage released by police.

Prosecutors are using Ventra records as evidence. Erin Meyer discusses how often commuter tracking is used in court:

Jalil was caught on surveillance cameras after making "inappropriate contact" with a woman on Sept. 3.

In that incident, a 23-year-old woman saw him board the train at the Clybourn Station at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Glen Runk said.

He allegedly stood right behind the woman, rubbing his groin against her. Jalil got off the train at Chicago Avenue, Runk said. When the woman exited the Red Line at Grand Avenue, she found what appeared to be semen on her pants leg and sandal, authorities said.

The day before, a 33-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant at the time, was riding a Blue Line train when Jalil allegedly approached and rubbed his groin against her buttocks and hip.

One of the victims who came forward said she was attacked on July 1, when she was standing near a window on a Red Line train around midnight when Jalil walked up and placed an arm on either side of her, trapping the woman between his body and the window, prosecutors said.

He pressed his body against the woman, forcing her to crouch down, crawl under his arm and escape, Runk alleged.

Jalil was identified after police released images from a CTA video. The video shows Jalil boarding the train on Sept. 3 at Clybourn and then standing directly behind the victim until he exited the train at Chicago.

Someone recognized Jalil in the photo in a community alert and identified him to police, prosecutors said.

Jalil's Ventra card history shows that he also boarded the Blue Line on Sept. 2 and the Red Line on Sept. 3 around the times of those two incident.

After his arrest, Jalil allegedly told police that "he may have accidentally rubbed his penis against other riders," Runk said.

Jalil, of the 2400 Block of North Kedzie Avenue in Logan Square, was charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual abuse, three counts of aggravated battery and one count of unlawful restraint.
