BRIDGEPORT — Three professional storytellers and three open mic participants will spin yarns based on a theme at the monthly South Side version of Story Club.

This month, the theme is "Tripping: Tales of Journeys Real or Imagined." The event takes place Sept. 16 at Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St.

To help get would-be storytellers thinking, the group is posing the following question: "What is the anatomy of a journey taken in your body or mind? Can you return to the person you were at the onset, or does a trip have to change you to be a trip at all?"

In addition to the featured performers, three open mic slots are available for brave storytellers. They'll have eight minutes to tell their story, which doesn't have to follow the theme.

Open mic sign-up starts at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Suggested donation for entry is $10. The event is BYOB.
