CHICAGO — A man was arrested after throwing an 18-month-old girl from his car window and striking her with his car, police said.

The incident occurred at 2:40 a.m. Monday near 75th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

A 46-year-old man was fighting with a 23-year-old woman inside the car when the woman's 7-year-old son tried to the stop the fighting, Sedevic said.

After the man struck the boy, he threw the baby outside of the window and hit her as he sped off.

The man was arrested by police a short time later.

The two children were taken to Comer Children's Hospital in stable condition after suffering bruises in the incident, Sedevic said.
