CHICAGO — More construction on the Kennedy Expy. starts next week.

Beginning September 3 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., travelers will start to see lanes reduced and several downtown ramps closed every night on the Kennedy Expy. because of the Ohio Street bridge project.

Drivers should expect fewer lanes on the westbound Kennedy from Jackson Boulevard to Ogden Avenue, according to a Illinois Department of Transportation news release.

A total of five ramps will be closed, including Jackson Boulevard, Adams Street to the westbound Kennedy, Randolph Street to the westbound Kennedy, westbound Congress Parkway to the westbound Kennedy and Ontario Street to the eastbound Kennedy.

There will be posted detours to help drivers navigate in spite of the ramp closures.

The closures will result in delays, according to the release, so drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for trips through the area.
