CHICAGO — A 52-year-old man was killed and six others were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides since Thursday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., two men, ages 52 and 22, were standing on the sidewalk at 73rd Street and Winchester Avenue when someone inside a passing light-colored car opened fire, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman. The incident left the older man dead. The other man survived a gunshot wound to his foot, police said.

The men, ages 27, 34 and 25, were involved in a fight with a man they knew in the 6900 block of South Throop Avenue when the man pulled out a gun and opened fire, Pacheco said.

The 27-year-old was shot in his shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital where he is in stable condition, while the 25-year-old was critically wounded after being shot in his abdomen and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to Pacheco.

The 34-year-old was refused further medical attention while en route to Christ after being shot in his leg, Pacheco said.

Police said all of the men have documented gang ties.
