CHICAGO — The weather is supposed to be pretty glorious this weekend (let's ignore that chance of rain on Saturday, mmk?), so get your weekend started by taking in some of that warm-ish August air.
1. Get a Root Beer Float: Apparently Wednesday was "National Root Beer Float Day." We clearly forgot about it, but a Lakeview burger spot did not. Spritz Burger is running a special that combines root beer with booze, so we're obviously into that. The Affogato Float features award-winning chef Gale Gand's root beer and molasses ice cream. It's served with a side of Firelit, a coffee spirit. Enjoy it on their cute patio. Open from 5-10 p.m. Fridays at 3819 N. Broadway St.
2. Do the Truffle Shuffle in Public: "The Goonies" is playing in Wrightwood Park tonight. Bring some pals and watch as DePaul students from nearby experience the 1985 classic for the first time. Free. Starts at 8 p.m. in Wrightwood Park, 2534 N. Greenview Ave.
3. Try the City's Best Italian Ice: Mario's Italian Lemonade is only open during the summer, and as much as we like to ignore it — summer is coming to a rapid end. Our childhood favorite is the "fruit cocktail" flavor, which is loaded with fresh fruit, but you really can't go wrong there. Chase it with an Italian beef from Al's across the street if you're feeling really sassy. Cash only. Open 10 a.m.-midnight. Fridays at 1068 W. Taylor St.
4. Drink at the Zoo: The Lincoln Park Zoo is hosting an adults-only night, so you can check out the lions without some pipsqueak standing in your way. Food, wine and beer will be sold. Must be 18 to enter. Muwahaha! Adults-only from 6:30-10 p.m. at 2001 N .Clark St. For non-zoo members, tickets are $10 online and $15 at the gate. For members, tickets are $8 online and $12 at the gate.
5. Eat Delicious Kebabs Before Dancing Off the Cals: Late-night food truck Doner Men will be outside Logan Square's East Room tonight serving up doner kebab sandwiches and currywurst. Eat on the patio before heading inside to dance it off. Truck will be operating from 8-11 p.m. at 2828 W. Medill Ave.
