School Supply Drive Underway to Benefit Needy Students in 47th Ward

LINCOLN SQUARE — Help make sure the neighborhoods' students are well-equipped to start the new school year by contributing to the 47th Ward's annual school supply drive.

The ward office is collecting everything from big-ticket items like scientific calculators to basics including paper, pencils and erasers.

Supplies can be dropped off at 4243 N. Lincoln Ave. and will be distributed to needy families in partnership with Common Pantry, Lincoln Square Friendship Center and Ravenswood Community Services.

The complete list of requested supplies:

  • Backpacks
  • Pens and pencils
  • Looseleaf paper and sketch pads
  • Folders
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Glue sticks and tape
  • Colored pencils, markers, highlighters, paints and crayons
  • Erasers and rulers
  • Pencil boxes and pouches
  • Paper towels
  • Hand sanitizer and facial tissue
  • Pocket dictionaries
  • Scientific and pocket calculators
  • Pencil sharpeners, scissors and staplers
  • USB drives
  • Three-ring binders and index cards
