COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Chicago man was ordered held on $350,000 bond Monday after he allegedly tried to steal a 76-year-old woman's purse on the museum campus over the weekend.

Prosecutors said Danzell Thrower, 27, robbed the woman Sunday morning just outside the Adler Planetarium.

About 9 a.m. Sunday, the woman was walking on the pedestrian path just behind the planetarium when Thrower began following her, prosecutors said.

Thrower than allegedly grabbed the woman, pinned her against a wall and stole her purse and her Ventra card, according to prosecutors and court documents.

Thrower than ran south toward Northerly Island while witnesses called police. Officers found Thrower, who matched the description given by onlookers, "hiding a short distance away in the rocks at Northerly Island," according to a police report.

Police did not find the purse but arrested Thrower and charged him with robbery, according to court records.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Thrower, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, held on $350,000 bond.
