CHATHAM — As a summertime activity a South Side church is hosting a block party for families before school starts for Chicago Public Schools.
The free all-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8000 S. Michigan Ave.
Organizers said food, games, music and "spiritual love" will be available at the event.
