COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Two women were making their escape from Saks Fifth Avenue with more than $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise on Wednesday when Saks security guards caught up with them, according to a police report.

Shaquandra Ratliff, 19, gave up immediately, but Jerika Jackson, also 19, spun around and sprayed a 34-year-old guard in the face with Mace, the report states.

His eyes burning, the "loss prevention officer" ran after Jackson, according to the report. She was caught less then a block from Saks, 700 N. Michigan Avenue, about 1:15 p.m., police said.

She was charged with armed robbery for using Mace on the Saks employee, prosecutors said.

Ratliff, of the 6700 block of South Morgan Street, was charged with retail theft and released from jail on her own recognizance.

Jackson, of the 6200 block of South St. Lawrence Street, was ordered held on $10,000 bail by Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas, who warned both women that they were barred from Saks while their cases are pending.

"Nobody is shopping at Saks," Chiampas said.
