LINCOLN SQUARE — Now that the World Cup has our attention, all eyes will be on USA vs. Germany at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The winner advances to the round of 16, the loser (maybe) goes home.

DANK Haus German American Cultural Center, 4740 N. Western Ave., will host a viewing party, with doors opening at 10 a.m. DNAinfo Chicago will be there reporting on fan reaction and capturing all the day's sights and sounds in real-time.

Though not exactly a rivalry on par with Yankees vs. Red Sox, U.S. vs. Germany is plenty contentious.

The American side's coach Juergen Klinsmann is a German soccer legend who played a integral role in then-West Germany's 1990 World Cup championship. Five German-Americans — sons of American servicemen who met German women while stationed overseas — play for the United States.

Join DNAinfo's Patty Wetli and Jon Hansen at DANK or follow their coverage on Thursday from wherever you're watching and tweet your reaction to the match at #worldcupdna.
