Englewood Shooting Leaves 16-year-old Wounded

CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy shot around midnight Tuesday in Englewood was among four people wounded overnight.

The teenager was walking on the sidewalk in the 7200 block of South Union Avenue when another man approached and shot him in his stomach. He was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital, where his condition stabilized, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

Detectives are investigating the shooting, but no one is in custody, Alfaro said.

About a half-an-hour before, two men were shot in the 3100 block of South Keeler Avenue in South Lawndale. The men were sitting in a parked van when a dark SUV approached and someone fired shots, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police said.

Both men were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition after the shooting, which occured around 11:3o p.m. Tuesday, Alfaro said.

The first victim, a 19-year-old man was shot in his arm, leg and stomach. The second victim, a 21-year-old man was shot in his knee, stomach, right thigh and left elbow, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.

Around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was shot in a drive-by in Hermosa.

Earlier, two people were wounded in seperate shootings in West Garfield Park.
