CHICAGO — Three shootings occurred on the South Side since Sunday afternoon, bringing the weekend totals to five killed and 24 wounded during the first official weekend of the summer.

And on Monday morning, a 47-year-old man was fatally shot in North Austin.

The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred around 12:40 a.m. Monday in the 5700 block of South Hermitage Avenue in Englewood. A 32-year-old man was sitting on a porch when someone approached and fired at him, striking him in his shoulder. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition stabilized, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Less than an hour before, another 32-year-old man was shot in both legs in West Englewood. The man was standing on the sidewalk near 66th Street and Seeley Avenue when someone shot him around 11:50 p.m. Sunday. His friends drove him to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.

Around 4:15 p.m., two people were shot in the 2400 block of East 75th Street in South Shore. A 47-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Hospital in stable condition and a 42-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in an unknown condition. No more information was available, Gaines said.

Four people were killed — including a man fatally shot near the Museum of Science and Industry — and 10 were wounded in shootings from Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot around 4:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Morgan Park.

Ten people were wounded in shootings Friday night into Saturday morning, including a store clerk who was shot during a robbery in Logan Square.
