10 Wounded in Shootings Friday Night, Saturday

CHICAGO — At least 10 people have been wounded by gunfire since Friday night, police said. One person was killed Saturday afternoon in Morgan Park.

In the most recent shooting, a store clerk was shot during a robbery in Logan Square. At about 5:35 p.m., a gunman entered a store in the 2600 block of North Kedzie Avenue, wounding the clerk and stealing money, police said.

Earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot in the thigh in the 2200 block of East 68th Street about 12:15, police said, citing preliminary information. He was taken in stable condition to University of Chicago Hospital.

A 55-year-old man was injured about 5 a.m. in the 5900 block of South Morgan Street. Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman, said the man was in a van when a grey vehicle pulled up and began firing. The man was hit in the arm and buttocks, and was in stable condition at Stroger Hospital.

About 45 minutes earlier, in the 7400 block of South Green Street in Englewood, a 50-year-old man was shot in the leg during a robbery attempt. The victim tried to run away from the robber, who then fired shots at him. The victim is in stable condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 3 a.m., in the 2000 block of West 74th Street, a 35-year-old man was injured after he heard shots and felt pain, police said. The man, a documented gang member, was taken to Christ in stable condition, police said. No more information was available.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street in West Garfield Park, police said. The man was standing on a porch when he was shot in the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

About 20 minutes earlier, in the 4500 block of South Lavergne Avenue, in the Leclaire Courts neighborhood, a 46-year-old man was shot in the stomach and arm, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition.

A 36-year-old woman was injured in the foot and leg when a bullet pierced a wall in her home in the 2000 block of West 68th Street, police said. She was sitting inside her home when a bullet came through the wall, Gaines said. She was in good condition at Christ.

Two men were shot in West Pullman about 10:20 Friday night. One man, 34, was shot in the leg. The other, 18, was hit in the elbow, police said. They were both in stable condition at Roseland Hospital.
