CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man is dead after a shooting in the Morgan Park neighborhood, officials said.

About 4:45 p.m., two groups of people were standing in the 11100 block of South Homewood Avenue when gunshots rang out, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

Bystanders ran in several directions, and a 23-year-old man was left lying on the ground, Pacheco said.

The man was identified as Taurus Williams, of the 300 block of West 100th Street, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Police said the man was a documented gang member. No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Saturday night.

At least two others were wounded since Saturday afternoon, including a 25-year-old store clerk who was shot in Logan Square, police said.
