Urban Foraging for Beginners at Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive, 6-8 p.m

Children and adults are welcome to take control of their food by entering into the delicious world of urban foraging, made simple with this beginners course. The event is free.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice at Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Celebrate the beginning of summer with John James Audubon as he shares stories of his adventures in Illinois in 1811, complete with tales of his pursuit to paint every known bird in North America including more than a dozen he named himself. Other events include a plant foraging class, critter connections, drop-by activities, bird-bingo and the unveiling of Todd McGrain's moving sculpture.

Verona Red at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 8 p.m.

Shoeshine Boy presents Verona Red, Mighty Fox, AyOh and Farraday as they perform for a 21-and-over crowd Thursday. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Arden Myrin at Zanies, 1548 N. Wells St., 8:30 p.m.

Arden Myrin has appeared more than 100 times on "Chelsea Lately," served as a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" for four years and has recently appeared in the Netflix original series "Orange is the New Black." Tickets for the show are $25 with the minimum purchase of two food or beverage items.
