Around 7:19 p.m. Sunday, a black SUV approached the man, who was walking in the 10200 block of South State Street, and someone inside open fired. The man was struck in both legs, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in stable condition. No one is in custody for the shooting, and detectives are investigating, Gaines said.

Saturday night, a 27-year-old man was shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood and Kenyonne Pendleton, 36, was shot and killed in West Humboldt Park.

Seventeen people were shot from Friday night into Saturday afternoon, including two who died from their wounds.

In West Garfield Park, 22-year-old Carnesha Fort was killed in an incident police say might have been a domestic incident.
