LINCOLN SQUARE — Wednesday is National Running Day and Fleet Feet is celebrating with a store-to-store relay — make that a store-to-store-to-store-to-store relay.

The relay will hit all four Chicago-area Fleet Feet locations, starting in Elmhurst and then making stops at the shops in Lincoln Square and Old Town before finishing in the South Loop, covering 38 miles, one-way.

Runners are welcome to join in at any point, for as many miles as they choose, jogging along at a nine-minute mile pace — this is a marathon, and then some, not a sprint.

The approximate schedule has runners leaving Elmhurst at 1 p.m.; reaching Lincoln Square, 4762 N. Lincoln Ave., at 5 p.m.; Old Town, 1620 N. Wells St., at 6:15 p.m.; and the South Loop, 150 W. Roosevelt Road, at 7:15 p.m.

An after-party at the South Loop store, featuring refreshments and Goose Island beer, is open to all participants, whether they go the distance or not.

If running's not your thing, permission granted to partake in National Frozen Yogurt Day, National Cheese Day or National Cognac Day, also celebrated on June 4.
