CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was shot to death Thursday in South Shore, police said.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 2400 block of East 74th Street at 12:30 p.m., said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.

They found a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in his body, Sullivan said.

Craig Mitchell, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:03 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Authorities said Mitchell was a documented gang member. No more information was available.

A man was also shot in Thursday afternoon in Austin, police said. Police said he was shot multiple times in the 4900 block of West Huron Street about noon. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
