One Man Dead, Four Wounded Overnight

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was killed during a car-jacking and four others were wounded in several shootings overnight.

The homicide occurred around 10:25 p.m. Tuesday night in the 2300 block of West 80th Street in the Ashburn neighborhood, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Paul Pyrom, 21, was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:02 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Pyrom was shot in his chest during a carjacking and two people then drove off in the man's Ford Expedition, Gaines said.

In the most recent shooting, two people were injured when someone opened fire at a party in West Englewood.

A 22-year-old woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition after being shot in her leg and a 21-year-old man was in good condition at Holy Cross Hospital after being shot in his foot. The shooting occurred around 12:05 a.m. Wednesday in the 6300 block of South Wood Street, Gaines said.

Around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the first block of East 59th Street in Washington Park when someone pulled up in a silver Cadillac and opened fire. The car then drove off. The teen was struck in his arm and chest and taken to Stroger in stable condition, Gaines said.

The teen is a documented gang member, Gaines said.

Around 5:15 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was shot in her right hand in the 1400 block of North Homan Avenue in Humboldt Park. She was taken to Norwegian-American Hospital in stable condition, said Gaines.

More information was not available.

In other violence, eight people were wounded in shootings earlier Tuesday.
