COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Back of the Yards man set his estranged wife on fire early on Monday outside a Lincoln Square storefront bar where the woman worked, prosecutors said.

But the flames quickly spread back to the man, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to a police report.

Javier Jiminez, 41, remained hospitalized Tuesday when prosecutors laid out the allegations against him in bond court. He was ordered held on $200,000 bail by a Cook County judge.

Jiminez doused the 33-year-old woman with what authorities believe to be gasoline outside of a bar at 4811 N. Rockwell Street shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, authorities said. The woman worked at the bar, according to police.

A man who answered the phone Tuesday afternoon confirmed the name of the establishment to be Jong Ro's but declined to comment about the incident.

On Tuesday afternoon a charred patch of grass was visible outside of the restaurant.

The woman suffered burns on her arms and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
