ALBANY PARK — Work on the Pulaski Road Streetscape gets under way this week, according to the office of Ald. Margaret Laurino (39th).
The stretch of road between Wilson and Elston avenues is slated for both structural and cosmetic upgrades, including a new curb and gutters, widened sidewalks with wheelchair-accessible ramps, and permeable pavers. Decorative touches include benches and bike racks, 40 new shade trees, stamped crosswalks and Albany Park community identifiers.
Construction won't affect CTA bus routes, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation.
Pulaski will remain open to motorists and pedestrians during construction but parking will be restricted periodically.
According to the city, work is expected to last until late this year.
The streetscape follows a water main replacement project recently completed on the same length of road.
