CHICAGO — Four police officers were injured when two squad cars collided in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Friday night.

About 8 p.m., officers in two squad cars were responding to a call of a person with a gun when they collided near West 79th Street and South Racine Avenue, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Four officers were transported to hospitals to be treated for injuries. Two were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, Greer said.

The other two officers were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, also in good condition.

The squad cars, which both contained two of the officers injured, were not in pursuit at the time of the crash, police said.
